Main Teachings

One way to describe the teachings of Trinity Christian Reformed Church is to say that we speak “Mere Christianity” with a “Reformed Accent.”

By “Mere Christianity” we mean historic teachings common to almost all Christians at all times. Such teachings include:

  1. The Trinity, one God in three Persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
  2. The true divinity and true humanity of Jesus Christ
  3. The saving death and resurrection of Christ
  4. The hope for Christ’s return in glory, when God will perfect creation and wipe every tear from our eyes.

By a “Reformed Accent” we mean teachings which are not unique to the Reformed tradition but that Reformed believers characteristically emphasize. These include:

  1. Salvation by grace alone through faith alone
  2. The infallible authority of the Bible in matters of faith and morals
  3. The inclusion of the children of believers in the church through baptism
  4. The Gospel of the Kingdom, i.e. the gracious rule of Jesus Christ over every activity in all creation

Members of Trinity came from a variety of backgrounds, and we hold a variety of views about many important matters. However, our first identity is our identity in Christ, and these common beliefs unite us for God’s mission.
